I like this film for several reasons. The first one was that they gave you a lot of details on the events, such as the beginning where they were shredding all the documents, showing how they tried to destroy the materials and how all the Iranian people were trying to get in. Another reason was that they used original footage of the events back in 1979 to make you really see what did happen, they showed the news that were played, and the riots that were going on. The last reason was that the Canadian Embassy took the six escaped Americans in even though all the the other embassies turned them down because they think that the Iranian people might murder them too.
We are Americans so when watching this movie we want them to return safely and unharmed, especially if they are in a place where they are being hunted. We are also close with Canada, so having them help the Americans was a very generous thing to do, if they haven't done that I don't think our relationship would we this good.
I thought that you had some very interesting points in this blog post. I did not choose to watch this film, but I agree that being given lots of details about the events helps us as the viewers understand what is happening better. This might also help us follow the plot line of the film instead of getting confused. I also agree that it is cool when original footage is put into films because you can almost feel as though you are there in the moment with the footage. When the footage is real, it just kind of strikes the viewers with this sense of, "oh my gosh! This actually happened! This isn't just a bunch of actors" and I think that it gives the film a bit more credibility. Overall I think that you had some great points followed up with good evidence from the film.
ReplyDeleteI really liked your post! I did not choose to watch this film either, though after reading this I am intrigued about it. You gave a lot of great details about the plot. I didn't realize how awesome Canadians are! I really like how you mention the way they set up the film, such as when you mention how they were shredding documents at the beginning, etc. I think you did a nice job giving your opinion on the film!
