I did like this film because it has it shows different people and how they are handling the situation. Each one of these characters are different from each other and they each want separate things, but at the end they are fighting for the same thing. When some one does something they assume that it's harmless; it may be harmless to them, but they don't or see that it is going to harm someone else. Everything in the world is controversial and everyone might like or believe in something but there is that one person who will disagree.
I am Asian and I know how it feels when people are judging you by your race. This film does portray the roles very well. An example was when the dean of Winchester was pushing his son to be a lawyer but he really wanted to be a comedian, is just like Asian parents when they say they want you to be doctors but inside you really want to be fireman or an actor.
I really liked your blog post and what you had to say. I agree with you on how all four characters were handing the situation differently and in their own way, but they were essentially fighting for the same cause. I also thought that it was useful to bring in your own experiences. I think that you brought up an interesting point when you gave the example of how the dean of Winchester was pushing his son to be a lawyer but he really wanted to be a comedian and how that same concept happens in Asian families. With parents wanting their children to become doctors and other important jobs despite the fact that their child might not want to become any of those things.
ReplyDeleteI think you made some really great points on how the movie isn't just about racism, but also about how individuals will react to the expectations set upon them. I also really like what you said about how everything in the world is controversial because it's true, everyone pretty much always will be offended by something.
