Political side

http://adst.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/iranian-hostage-crisis_2-1024x768.jpg
The movie Argo is based upon this real life event. Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi started to make changes that the people did not like or agree with. The people then started to riot. The riots got bad and eventually they broke into the American embassy and kidnapped 63 people, but 6 escaped. With the help of the Canadians, the Americans were able to stay hidden and safe from the Iranians. Tony Mendez a CIA agent is then set to retrieve them back safely to the United States. The Iran Hostage Crisis in 1979 has created many positive and negative outcomes

Thank You Canada!

In 1979, 62 Americans were captured by the Iranian people; six escaped and went to the Canadian Embassy. The US government is trying desperately to retrieve them, so the call in Tony Mendez, a CIA agent to help rescue them. They don't have an idea of how to get Mendez into Iran and how to get the six escaped Americans back out to the United States. Eventually Mendez comes up with a plan: to pretend to be a fake Canadian film crew. This film is more then just trying to save people from an land where they are being murdered, it's about the Mendez's and the "fake" film crews dedication to saving the frightened people. They were told to discontinue the mission but they kept on going. Mendez knew that if their plan failed he would be killed too but he knew that they wanted to be back home so he took a risk.

Dear White People

http://yellowscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/dear-white-people-hp-e1414116662957.jpeg
The film Dear White People is about a film major at Winchester University, Sam, who sparks rage/emotion when she started her radio show called "Dear White People." Going against her ex-boyfriend Troy she wins head of house of Armstrong/ Parker. Troy who didn't take losing to well said he needed time off anyways because of his busy schedule, but on the other hand his father, Dean of Winchester University, isn't too pleased about that. While Coco and Lionel, two other students living in Armstrong/ Parker just want to lead their lives but issues evolves. This film is about how people are treating different color people, but beyond that it is about how people react to these situations. We see in this film how four different people act, but at the end they want the same things; for people to treat them the same and not make jokes.

What's your Password?

http://www.tapscape.com/password-security-apple-protects-users/
The TedTalk presentation that I chose was called "What's Wrong with Your Pa$$word?" by Lorrie Faith Carnor a Security Researcher at Carnegie Mellon University. Lorrie explains how many people only select passwords that are easy to remember or have a common rhythm, such as: password or 123123. She and her colleagues did a few surveys/ data collecting. The first survey they did was collecting data about people's password; the length, digits or symbols used, etc. Then they did an online data collecting on Amazon Mechanical Turk, where a random group of people have to create a password that is at least eight characters, another group’s passwords should be comprehensive eight, and another for the basic sixteen characters. They realized that the long and complex passwords are both very strong but the complex ones are harder to remember. Password meters are found to be very useful in making sure people's password is good enough, because when the meter says it’s an “okay” password it doesn’t make you feel satisfied to you retry until it says “strong.” Lorrie did testing with Pass Phrase passwords and it seems that people made more error when typing in their password and random password were too difficult to remember although harder to guess. At one point during the presentation Lorrie said that the people in the associated with the computer science department had better passwords then those in the business department. Which I thought was obvious because they are more knowledgeable about computer hacking and how easy it is to do something like that. Hackers may break into your private accounts if you are not careful. These passwords may then be sold and posted onto a website where everyone may access your personal data. As Lorrie said at the end of her presentation "when you're creating your password, try to think about something else."

The Believing Game

Every single person has their own views and beliefs. They would prefer one over the other or they believe doing this is better then that. Trying to see why they would choose the one you're opposed to by seeing the positive side of it. This is what The Believing Game is; seeing the others persons view, "as if."
